56	2025/56	16 December	The Science Festival Project Titled “The Future of Giresun: Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Technologies in Education” Was Carried Out	The 4007 Science Festival project titled “The Future of Giresun: Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Technologies in Education”, prepared by the R&D Unit of the Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education, was carried out between 4–6 December 2025. A total of 18 teachers from the Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education and 10 academicians from Giresun University and Istinye University shared 30 different activities consisting of conferences, panels, scientific talks, and workshops with the participants. The project constitutes a concrete example of collaboration between the R&D Unit of the Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education and universities.
55	2025/55	11 December	“The Breath of Nature through Engravings” Solo Engraving Exhibition	The solo exhibition titled “The Breath of Nature through Engravings” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Mamur Yılmaz, a faculty member of the Department of Fine Arts Education at the Faculty of Education, was opened with a ceremony held in the exhibition area of the Department of Art Education. Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin Aksu, faculty members, and students attended the opening.
54	2025/54	09 December	STUDENT–DEPARTMENT–HEAD OF DEPARTMENT MEETING WAS HELD IN THE DEPARTMENT OF BASIC EDUCATION	The Student–Department–Head of Department Meeting was held on 20 November 2025 at the Karadeniz Conference Hall of our Faculty with the participation of the Head of the Department of Basic Education Prof. Dr. Mustafa CİN, the Head of the Department of Preschool Education Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gonca ULUDAĞ, the Head of the Department of Primary Education Dr. Lecturer Ayşe Dilek YEKELER, and students. During the meeting, which allowed students of the Departments of Preschool Education and Primary Education to convey their requests, suggestions, and feedback, students addressed important issues related to educational, cultural, and social opportunities, and the questions within this scope were answered by the administrators with transparency and clarity.
53	2025/53	09 December	A SEMINAR ON QUALITY ASSURANCE AND STUDENT PARTICIPATION IN HIGHER EDUCATION WAS HELD WITH STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PRESCHOOL EDUCATION	Within the scope of student development seminars organized by the Department of Preschool Education under the Department of Basic Education for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students continuing the program in the 2025–2026 academic year, the event titled “Quality Assurance and Student Participation in Higher Education” was held on 4 December 2025 in classroom F.2.1 of our faculty by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gonca ULUDAĞ.
52	2025/52	05 December	The 20th Traditional Short Play Days Came to an End	The 20th edition of the traditional “Short Play Days”, prepared by our 4th-year students within the scope of the Theatre and Drama Practices course taught in the Department of Turkish Education of our Faculty and carried out under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Dursun ŞAHİN, was held between 1–4 December 2025 at the Ömer Halisdemir Conference Hall of Giresun University.
51	2025/51	25 November	Dean–Student Meeting Was Held	Our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Güven ÖZDEM met with students within the scope of the “Dean–Student Meeting” event on Tuesday, 25 November 2025 at 14:00 in the Karadeniz Conference Hall of our Faculty. In addition to our Dean Prof. Dr. Güven ÖZDEM, Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin AKSU and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bünyamin ÇETİNKAYA also attended the event.
50	2025/50	21 November	Dean–Administrative Staff Meeting	Our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Güven ÖZDEM met with the administrative staff of our Faculty on 21 November 2025 at 10:00 in the meeting hall of the Faculty of Education. Our Dean gave the floor individually to the administrative staff members and listened to their problems, opinions, and requests.
49	2025/49	14 November	An Exemplary Community Service Practice from the English Language Teaching Program	Within the scope of the Community Service course carried out under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Melissa Özlem Grab and Dr. Lecturer Çiğdem Güneş Çilek in the English Language Teaching Department of our Faculty, senior students carried out a meaningful project. Teacher candidates voluntarily provided English lessons to students from different age groups throughout a semester, aiming to teach the language through enjoyable methods. Within the project, lessons for students aged 6–14 were conducted by teacher candidates under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Çiğdem Güneş Çilek, while training was provided to students aged 14+ and university students by teacher candidates under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Melissa Özlem Grab. Games, songs, short stories, and creative activities were used in the supporting lessons to increase students’ interest in English.
48	2025/48	14 November	Another TÜBİTAK 2209-A Project from the Department of Science Education Was Successfully Completed	The project titled “Development of an Educational Digital Game (EDG) on the Topic of the Sun, Earth, and Moon and Examination of Its Effect”, carried out by students of the Department of Science Education at the Faculty of Education, was supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program in the first term of 2024 and was successfully completed. It was determined that the educational digital game developed within the scope of the project increased students’ academic achievement and learning motivation, and made the learning process enjoyable and permanent. While students evaluated the game positively in both affective and cognitive terms, teachers emphasized that the game is a pedagogically beneficial tool in science education. The project coordinator Cemile MERİÇ and researchers Sultan ESEN and Gizemnur YAŞAR stated regarding the project process: “Seeing a digital game that we developed ourselves being played with interest by students in the classroom environment became our greatest source of motivation.”
47	2025/47	13 November	An Innovative Science Education Project Supported by TÜBİTAK from Students of the Department of Science Education	Students of the Faculty of Education at Giresun University achieved a remarkable success in the field of science education with their study supported within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program. The project titled “Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of an Origami Activity for the Topic of the Food Chain”, which was supported in the first term of 2024 and whose final report was approved by TÜBİTAK, offered a creative and interactive approach in science teaching.
46	2025/46	23 October	The Academic Board Meeting for the 2025–2026 Academic Year Was Held	The Academic Board Meeting for the 2025–2026 Academic Year was held with the participation of our Rector Prof. Dr. Yılmaz CAN. Faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda AYDIN GÜÇ provided information about the processes related to quality and accreditation studies of our Faculty. Our Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Güven ÖZDEM shared information about the past and present status of our Faculty, its physical capacity, staff status, and academic achievements. In addition, the Coordinator of Accreditation, Academic Evaluation, and Quality, Prof. Dr. Mustafa ŞANAL, provided information on quality and accreditation processes.
45	2025/45	18–26 September	AN ORIENTATION PROGRAM WAS ORGANIZED FOR STUDENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PRESCHOOL EDUCATION	An orientation program was organized by the Department of Preschool Education under the Department of Basic Education of our Faculty for students enrolled in the first year of the 2025–2026 academic year. The program, which took place between 18–26 September 2025 in the G-F block classrooms of the Faculty of Education at the Güre campus, started with a session titled “Welcome Meeting: Let Us Get to Know Our Department”. In this session, our University Vice Rector and Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Güven ÖZDEM stated that a student-friendly administrative approach is adopted at our university, while our Faculty Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bünyamin ÇETİNKAYA provided general information about our Faculty. The Head of the Department of Preschool Education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gonca ULUDAĞ, expressed their great happiness about the presence of newly enrolled students and stated that the aim of the four-year higher education process is to train qualified preschool teachers. In this session, which was attended by all faculty members of the department, students and staff became acquainted.

43	2025/43	15 September	Faculty Quality Commission Held a Meeting	Within the scope of quality processes, the Faculty Quality Commission held a meeting on 15 September 2025 to determine the goals for the 2025–2026 Fall Semester and the activities planned to achieve these goals.
42	2025/42	11 September	Meeting Held with Heads of Departments	Within the scope of accreditation and quality processes, a meeting was held on Thursday, 11 September 2025, under the chairmanship of Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin AKSU, with the Heads of Departments of our Faculty to evaluate the preparations for the 2025–2026 academic year fall semester.
41	2025/41	31 August	“Artificial Intelligence Academy for BİLSEM Teachers” Project Successfully Completed	The “Artificial Intelligence Academy for BİLSEM Teachers” project, supported under the TÜBİTAK 4005 Innovative Educational Practices Support Program, was successfully carried out between 31 August and 5 September 2025. The project was coordinated by Dr. Emine Gürsoy, Psychological Counselor at Giresun Science and Art Center, while Prof. Dr. Necla Dönmez Usta from the Department of Science Education and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Turan Güntepe from the Department of Instructional Technologies took part in the project team as experts. The opening ceremony was held with the participation of Giresun Provincial Director of National Education, Mr. Özgür Tokgöz. At the closing ceremony, Mr. Oktay Kılıç, Head of the Planning and Coordination Department of the General Directorate of Measurement, Evaluation and Examination Services of the Ministry of National Education, and Branch Director Mr. Şakir Marancı met with the participants.
40	2025/40	02 July	TÜBİTAK 4008 Project Implemented with the Slogan “Children with ASD Learn through Experiments and Games and Grow Stronger with Peers”	With the TÜBİTAK-supported project, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Giresun experienced a four-day learning journey full of science, art, games, and drama together with their typically developing peers. The project titled “Improving the Social Interaction Skills of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Giresun through Peer-Mediated Intervention Enriched with Fun Science Experiments and Games,” hosted by our Faculty and supported by TÜBİTAK, was launched on 30 June with the participation of Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şahin. The project, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Fethiye Karslı Baydere, brought together children with ASD and typically developing students, highlighting the inclusive power of peer-supported learning.

38	2025/38	10 June	AFAD Visit by Science Education Department Students under the Guidance of Dr. Öğr. Member Öznur Ölmez Nalcıoğlu	During the 2024–2025 Spring Semester, Science Education Department students participated voluntarily in training seminars, drills, and activities at the Giresun Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) within the scope of the Community Service Practices course, and earned certificates in Disaster Awareness, Fire Awareness, Civil Defense, Emergency Management, CBRN Awareness, and Suspicious Mail. The students Batıkan Gürel, Ebru Kılıç, Sıla Çelik, and Zübeyde Balaban also took part in the AFAD stand during DOKKAF 2025 Career Days held at Giresun University on 21–22 April 2025, contributing to raising public awareness of disasters. Additionally, they prepared and implemented the project titled “Measuring and Improving Disaster Awareness of Faculty of Education Students” with the support of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şerif Ali Değirmençay.
37	2025/37	10 June	Meaningful Material Support from Science Teacher Candidates	Within the scope of the “Material Design in Science Teaching” course conducted in the Department of Science Education, instructional materials developed by teacher candidates were delivered to schools on 02 June 2025. The materials prepared under the supervision of Dr. Lecturer Jülide Yazıcı were delivered to Mr. Cüneyt Bodur, a science teacher and a graduate of Giresun University Science Teaching Program. This meaningful contribution was realized through Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şerif Ali Değirmençay, a member of the Faculty of Education Science Education Department Alumni Communication Commission. Mr. Cüneyt Bodur represents a strong example of cooperation between the university and its graduates working in the field.
36	2025/36	05 June	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Çetinkaya Held an Interview on TRT Trabzon Radio	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Çetinkaya, Vice Dean of our Faculty and faculty member of the Department of Educational Sciences, Guidance and Psychological Counseling, gave an interview on TRT Trabzon Radio on 05 June 2025 at 12:30, addressing the importance of animal sacrifice during Eid al-Adha in terms of child development and psychology.
35	2025/35	28 May	Presentation on “Professional and Educational Ethics” by Prof. Dr. Fatmanur Özen	Within the scope of Ethics Week, a program was organized by Giresun 125th Year Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School under the coordination of the Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Fatmanur Özen as a guest speaker. In her presentation titled “Professional and Educational Ethics,” Prof. Dr. Özen addressed ethical values in education and professional life, the impact of ethical principles on institutional culture, and the ethical responsibilities of educational administrators. The event concluded with a plaque presentation and a group photo session.
34	2025/34	27 May	Material Support from Our Faculty to Ülper Village Primary School	Within the scope of the course “Material Development in Early Childhood,” conducted under the Department of Basic Education, Preschool Education Program of our Faculty, educational materials developed by 12 teacher candidates under the supervision of Lecturer Nafız KÖSE were delivered to Ülper Village Primary School in Giresun province. The prepared materials were designed in accordance with the preschool education curriculum to support children’s cognitive, social-emotional, language, and psychomotor development areas. The materials were presented to the school administration and teachers to be used in the preschool classroom at Ülper Village Primary School. Ülper Village Primary School Principal Erol ÖZTÜRK, who attended the delivery ceremony, and teacher Yıldıray AYDIN, a 2002 graduate of the Faculty of Education Primary School Teaching Program, conveyed their thanks to the academic staff and students. AYDIN stated that such support is highly valuable for students in rural areas and makes a meaningful contribution to children’s learning processes.
33	2025/33	22 May	Visit to the Department of Science Education by Students of Private Giresun Doğal Adımlar Kindergarten	Within the scope of career introduction activities, students and teachers of Private Giresun Doğal Adımlar Kindergarten visited the Department of Science Education of the Mathematics and Science Education Department at our Faculty of Education. The young visitors were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Fethiye Karslı Baydere. During the visit, students toured the physics, chemistry, biology, and science laboratories of the Department of Science Education. In the biology laboratory, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmü Gülsüm Durukan, and in the chemistry laboratory, Dr. Lecturer Öznur Ölmez Nalcıoğlu introduced the laboratory environment and conducted various demonstration experiments. In the continuation of the visit, workshop activities were organized in Science 1 and Science 2 laboratories under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Fethiye Karslı Baydere and Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Şahin Çakır. Through fun science experiments implemented by third-year Science Teaching students, the children’s interest in science was increased.
32	2025/32	21 May	Webinars Organized for Graduates by Faculty Members of the Department of Science Education	An online webinar series was organized for teachers who graduated from the Science Teaching Program of Giresun University Faculty of Education, with the participation of field experts. In the events held through UZEM (Distance Education Application and Research Center), current approaches to science teaching, instructional materials, and teaching strategies were discussed.
31	2025/31	13 May	A Visit to Giresun Museum Was Conducted within the Scope of the Museum Education Course	Within the scope of the professional knowledge elective course coded MBSEÇ-17 titled “Museum Education,” conducted by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmü Gülsüm Durukan from the Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Department of Science Education, a field trip was organized. Teacher candidates from different departments visited Giresun Museum. During the visit, they gained information about the characteristics of museum artifacts, museum organization, acquisition of artifacts, registration in museum inventories, exhibition and preservation processes, as well as the history of Giresun. We would like to thank the Giresun Museum Directorate for their support.
30	2025/30	12 May	Our Science Teacher Candidates Held an Experiment Festival in the Schoolyard	Within the scope of the course “Out-of-School Learning Environments in Science Teaching,” conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmü Gülsüm Durukan from the Department of Science Education, an applied activity was carried out in the schoolyard together with our science teacher candidates. During the activity, teacher candidates prepared experiment activities that attract students’ attention and increase their interest in accordance with the outcomes of the science curriculum. However, due to the sudden onset of rain, the experiments were moved indoors to the school corridors and continued there. This situation enabled teacher candidates not only to evaluate out-of-school learning environments but also to develop skills in producing solutions to unexpected situations and adapting practices to conditions.
29	2025/29	06 May	A TÜBİTAK Science Talk Was Held at Ordu Yeşilyurt Ahmet Karlıbel Secondary School	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda AYDIN GÜÇ, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics Education, met with students of Ordu Yeşilyurt Ahmet Karlıbel Secondary School within the scope of TÜBİTAK Science Talks. Following a presentation titled “STEM and Mathematics Education in the Digital Age,” in which her academic career, research topics, and developments and debates in her field were discussed, interactive activities were carried out with the students. The students had the opportunity to experience the engineering design process.
28	2025/28	02 May	The Seminar “The Türkiye Century Education Model in the Context of Mathematics Education” Was Held	The seminar titled “The Türkiye Century Education Model in the Context of Mathematics Education,” planned by the Department of Mathematics Education, was held. Expert Teacher Handan KULEYİN, a trainer of the new education model, shared information about the model and conveyed her experiences as a teacher implementing it. Mathematics teacher candidates took part in the discussion process and gained information about the fundamental changes in the mathematics curriculum. We would like to thank Expert Teacher Handan KULEYİN for providing this valuable opportunity to our students.
27	2025/27	30 April	Visit to TÖMER by Students of the Department of Turkish Language Education	Within the scope of the course “Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language,” conducted by Prof. Dr. Müzeyyen ALTUNBAY, an observational educational visit was organized to the Turkish and Foreign Languages Application and Research Center (TÖMER) with fourth-year students of the Department of Turkish Language Education. The students gained field-oriented and practice-based information from the instructors working at TÖMER, observed the application of theoretical knowledge learned in the course, and had the opportunity to communicate with international students. We would like to thank all instructors, especially TÖMER Director Dr. Lecturer Rahim KIZGUT, for supporting the students’ professional development and wish them continued success.

Prof. Dr. Funda AYDIN GÜÇ, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics Education, met with students of Havza Science High School within the scope of TÜBİTAK Science Talks. Following her presentation titled “STEM and Mathematics Education in the Digital Age,” interactive activities were carried out with the students. The students had the opportunity to experience the engineering design process.
25	2025/25	24 April	Our Faculty Member from the Department of Science Education Delivered a Seminar on “Laboratory Safety” at DOKKAF as a Guest of the GRÜ Science Society	Within the scope of the Eastern Black Sea Career Fair (DOKKAF), hosted by Giresun University on 21–22 April 2025, a seminar was organized by the GRÜ Science Society, academically advised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmü Gülsüm DURUKAN from the Department of Science Education. At the event, Dr. Lecturer Öznur ÖLMEZ NALCIOĞLU, a faculty member of the Department of Science Education, participated as a speaker and delivered a seminar titled “Safe Work in the Laboratory: Recognize Hazards, Stay Safe!” The seminar, in which important information was shared on safe working principles in laboratory environments, risk recognition, and preventive measures, attracted great interest from participants.
24	2025/24	24 April	Children’s Mixed Painting Exhibition Held for April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day	The opening of the mixed painting exhibition consisting of artworks created by the children of our university staff, organized by the faculty members of the Department of Art Education on the occasion of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, was held on 24 April 2025 by Vice Rector and Dean Prof. Dr. Güven ÖZDEM. Introducing the exhibition, which attracted great interest, faculty member Dr. Selahattin YILMAZ stated that university administrators as well as academic and administrative staff showed great interest in the exhibition, which included 135 paintings created by children aged between 3 and 14, emphasizing the importance of continuing and further developing such activities in the coming years. In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Güven ÖZDEM emphasized the significance of April 23 and highlighted the importance of activities organized for children on such special occasions in raising awareness. He also noted that activities encompassing the entire university strengthen the sense of belonging. He congratulated those who contributed to the organization of the exhibition, the participating children, and their parents, and presented participation certificates to the children.
23	2025/23	24 April	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gonca ULUDAĞ Appointed as a Working Group Member of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gonca ULUDAĞ, a faculty member of the Department of Primary Education, was selected as a Working Group Member on 16 April 2025 for the action titled “CA22145 – Computational Techniques for Tabletop Games Heritage (GameTable)”, conducted under the leadership of Dr. Eric PIETTE (Catholic University of Louvain) and funded by the European Union within the framework of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Association. The action will continue until 23 October 2027. We congratulate her and wish her continued success.
22	2025/22	20 April	We Met with Our Science Education Graduates!	On Sunday, 20 April 2025, the Alumni Gathering event organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şerif Ali DEĞİRMENÇAY, a member of the Graduate Tracking Commission of the Department of Science Education, was held with great enthusiasm. The event, prepared with the theme “Tea and Memories Are Being Refreshed,” brought graduates together once again. During the meeting, graduates reminisced about their student years and shared their experiences regarding today’s educational environment. A productive discussion environment was created on graduates’ professional development expectations, areas of need, and the webinar topics they would like to benefit from. In order to strengthen communication with graduates and support them in their professional lives, various webinars and online seminars are planned to be organized by the Department of Science Education in the upcoming period. We thank all our graduates who participated and look forward to many more gatherings together.
21	2025/21	18 April	Meeting of Unit Website Coordinators Held	Meetings aimed at improving the faculty website in line with quality standards continue. The meeting, chaired by Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Çetinkaya, was attended by department coordinators as well as Instructor Osman Karapınar from the University Quality Unit and Instructor Mustafa Fettahoğlu from the Information Technology Department, who provided information in their respective fields.
20	2025/20	18 April	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Öztürk Held a Family Seminar within the Scope of the “Parent Academy”	Our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Öztürk held a family seminar within the scope of the “Parent Academy” organized by the Keşap District Governorship and the District Directorate of National Education. The “Parent Academy Seminar” was organized on Wednesday, 16 April 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Keşap Mehmet Akif Ersoy Public Education Center in cooperation with the Keşap District Governorship and the District Directorate of National Education. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Deniz ÖZTÜRK from Giresun University Faculty of Education participated in the seminar as a speaker, and the seminar titled “Next Generation Learning: How Can You Prepare Your Children for the Future?” attracted great interest. The event, which was open to all parents, was also attended by district protocol members, school principals, and teachers. Referring to the future of education worldwide, learning processes, rising professional trends, and the latest report of the World Economic Forum, Öztürk discussed the universal skills that children and young people need to possess in the new generation. The program concluded with a certificate of appreciation presented by the District Governor of Keşap, Ms. Selin Sarı.

Prof. Dr. Gülşah Selin Tümkaya, and in which Faculty of Education members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Duran, Assist. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Ertuğrul, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mithat Çiçek participated as instructors, was entitled to receive support within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4005 Innovative Educational Practices Support Program. Through the project, it is aimed to provide special education teachers and subject teachers with the ability to integrate innovative educational methods such as digital storytelling, gamification, material development, and measurement and evaluation based on artificial intelligence applications into the classroom environment. 14	2025/14	25 March	Violin Recital by the Department of Music Education	The Violin Recital prepared by Faculty of Music Education members Assist. Prof. Dr. Beste Atalay Öcal and Assist. Prof. Dr. Özge Arslan was held on Tuesday, 25 March, at the Karadeniz Conference Hall. The works performed by Assist. Prof. Dr. Beste Atalay Öcal, Assist. Prof. Dr. Özge Arslan, first- and third-year undergraduate violin students, accompanied on the piano by Naimcan Harputluoğlu, received great appreciation from the audience. The program included works from the classical music repertoire as well as Turkish music arrangements by contemporary composers.
13	2025/13	24 March	eTwinning Seminar Held by the Department of Science Education	The eTwinning Seminar organized by Giresun University Department of Science Education was held on Monday, 24 March 2025, at the Karadeniz Conference Hall. The seminar was delivered by Giresun eTwinning Provincial Coordinator Tuğba Sağlam, during which prospective teachers were introduced to eTwinning projects and informed about international collaboration opportunities. In addition to prospective science teachers, the seminar was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmü Gülsüm Durukan, Assist. Lecturer Yasemin Çakır from the Career Guidance and Information Application and Research Center, and representatives from the R&D Unit of the Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education. In her speech, Tuğba Sağlam emphasized the importance of prospective teachers possessing 21st-century skills and stated that eTwinning projects contribute significantly to professional development and contemporary teaching methods.
12	2025/12	20 March	Online Meeting Held with Science Teaching Graduates	The Department of Science Education at the Faculty of Education, Giresun University, organized an online meeting on Thursday, 20 March 2025, with the aim of strengthening communication with its graduates. The meeting was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şerif Ali Değirmençay, a member of the Graduate Communication Commission, and was attended by many graduates of the Science Teaching program. During the meeting, the graduates’ expectations from the Department of Science Education, their suggestions, and their professional experiences were discussed. The graduates shared their views on their educational processes and expressed their requests for increased support for their academic and professional development.
11	2025/11	19 March	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selcan Kilis Appointed as TÜBİTAK 3501 Career Development Program Researcher and COST Member	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selcan KİLİS, a faculty member of the Department of Educational Sciences at our Faculty, will serve as a researcher in the project titled “Artificial Intelligence-Oriented Pedagogy: Innovative Professional Development Modules Enriching Early Childhood Education”. The project has been accepted within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 3501 Career Development Program and is coordinated by Dr. Hatice ÇILSALAR SAGNAK, a faculty member at the Faculty of Education of Yozgat Bozok University.
10	2025/10	17 March	Career Planning Training for Prospective Science Teachers	On Monday, 17 March 2025, a Career Planning Training for Science Teacher Candidates was held at the Karadeniz Conference Hall. The training was organized by the University Career Guidance and Information Application and Research Center and was delivered by Instructor Öğr. Gör. Yasemin ÇAKIR. The event, organized to support teacher candidates in identifying their career goals and contributing to their professional development, attracted great interest. During the training, the importance of career planning, correct goal-setting strategies, and key factors for success in professional life were discussed. Participants had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into how to take more conscious steps in their future career paths.
09	2025/09	13 March	Family Workshop	Within the scope of the 2025 Family Year Program, the “Family Workshop,” prepared by the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, was held on 13 March 2025. Academics working within the university participated as moderators in the workshop, which was attended by representatives of many provincial directorates. Faculty member Dr. Yeliz TİRYAKİ GÖKSU from the Department of Educational Sciences of our Faculty served as a moderator. Under the theme of improving family well-being, information exchange was carried out with provincial representatives from Social Services, İŞKUR, Agriculture, Trade, Muftiate, DOKAP, Social Security, and Civil Society Organizations regarding existing problems and solution strategies.
08	2025/08	12 March	Prospective Science Teachers Met with the Head of Department	In a meeting held at the Karadeniz Conference Hall on 12 March 2025, students of the Science Teaching program came together with the Head of the Science Education Department, Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Şahin ÇAKIR. The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümmü Gülsüm DURKAN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şerif Ali DEĞİRMENÇAY, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah İHSAN ARDA. During the meeting, students were informed about academic processes and departmental activities, and their opinions and suggestions were also taken into consideration. In the interactive environment, students’ questions regarding their education processes were answered, and ideas were exchanged about departmental activities.
07	2025/07	05 March	Training on “Voice Mechanism and Use of Voice” Delivered by Dr. Serkan Öztürk	Upon the official invitation of the Espiye Mufti’s Office, training on “Voice Mechanism and Voice Use” was delivered by Dr. Serkan Öztürk, a faculty member of the Department of Music Education, within the scope of the “Beautiful Recitation of the Adhan Course.”
06	2025/06	05 March	Study Titled “Library Culture” within the Scope of the Community Service Practices Course	Students of the Classroom Teaching Program of the Department of Basic Education started a study on “library culture” within the İl Halk Library under the Giresun Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism as part of the Community Service Practices course. The study, which has been supervised by course advisor Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Nazım KURUCAN since the 2024–2025 academic year fall semester, will be submitted to the Department Head in the form of a report upon completion of the activities. Participating students include Hatice Çınar, Can Kustansız, Emine İZCİ, Yusuf Emre Oğlum, Elif Tercanlıoğlu, Cihan YALÇIN.
05	2025/05	25 February	Teaching Practice Meeting Held in Cooperation with the Department of Science Education and Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education	The Head of the Department of Science Education and faculty members responsible for the Teaching Practice course met online on 25 February 2025 with science teachers working in secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in the central district of Giresun. In the meeting held at the beginning of the spring semester, guidance to be provided to teacher candidates during their teaching practice process and the principles of faculty–school cooperation were discussed. In addition, ideas were exchanged on ways to support the professional development of teacher candidates, potential challenges that may be encountered during the teaching practice process, and solution proposals.

Prof. Dr. Ümmü Gülsüm DURUKAN, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at the Faculty of Education, Giresun University, had her event titled “Out-of-School Learning Activities with Technology Applications II” accepted within the scope of the TÜBİTAK BİDEB 2237-A Scientific Education Activities Support Program 2025 first call. The event is planned to be held online between 7–9 May 2025 and 14–16 May 2025.
03	2025/03	11 February	Teaching Practice Planning Meeting Held	A meeting was held on 11 February 2025 at 14:00 by the Teacher Training and Development Branch of the Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education, with the participation of Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüseyin AKSU and accompanying faculty members. During the meeting, the start dates of the teaching practice processes to be conducted in educational institutions affiliated with the Provincial Directorate of National Education were determined within the framework of the Cooperation Protocol in Education signed between the Ministry of National Education and the Council of Higher Education, for the “Teaching Practice II” and “Guidance and Psychological Counseling Practices in Schools” courses to be offered in the spring semester of the 2024–2025 academic year. Issues regarding strengthening inter-unit communication to ensure cooperation during the semester were also addressed, and the meeting concluded after exchanging views and suggestions.
02	2025/02	02 February	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Çetinkaya Held an Interview on TRT Trabzon Radio	Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bünyamin ÇETİNKAYA, Vice Dean of our Faculty and a faculty member of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Department, delivered a talk titled “Returning to School After the Midterm Break” on TRT Trabzon Radio on 2 February 2025 at 12:00. During the program, recommendations were provided for teachers, families, and students on students’ adaptation to school after the midterm break and on re-establishing routines and order disrupted due to the holiday.
01	2025/01	06 January	The First Unit Visit within Our University’s Quality Processes Was Carried Out at Our Faculty	Our University has initiated its activities through the establishment of Unit Monitoring Teams in order to make quality assurance processes more effective and to create a sustainable culture of continuous improvement. This process was launched with a comprehensive visit to our Faculty on 6 January 2025. The members of the monitoring team who visited our Faculty were Prof. Dr. Alp Yalçın Tepe, Prof. Dr. Aytaç Güder, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seda Nur Atasoy, Instructor Şevkiye Babacan, and student member Şeyma Yöndem. The visit was also attended by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şanal, Chief Advisor to the Rector and Coordinator of Accreditation, Academic Evaluation and Quality Assurance, as well as Assistant Coordinator Dr. Hakan Sipahi, who closely monitored the processes. The visit program began with a meeting between the monitoring team and our University’s Vice Rector and Dean, Prof. Dr. Güven Özdem, together with the Faculty Administration.
