These courses will be carried out in educational institutions under the Giresun Provincial Directorate of National Education. The meeting also addressed the importance of strengthening inter-departmental communication to ensure consistency in the implementation process. Our Faculty's Special Education Department students, in collaboration with the Accessible Life Community, organized an event on October 6th, World Cerebral Palsy Day, to raise awareness. The students wore green clothing to draw attention to cerebral palsy and conveyed an awareness message across the campus. Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition caused by brain damage, leading to movement and posture disorders. It typically results from brain damage occurring before, during, or after birth. Individuals with cerebral palsy face challenges with motor skills, but the symptoms and severity vary from person to person. Therefore, societal awareness and support for the needs of individuals with cerebral palsy are extremely important. With the support of our students and the Accessible Life Community, awareness was raised through social media regarding the rights, education, challenges, and social inclusion of individuals with cerebral palsy. The aim was to make individuals with cerebral palsy more visible and to strengthen the culture of empathy within society. |

On Thursday, September 26, 2024, our Faculty's Department of Foreign Language Education organized an orientation program for first-year English Language Teaching students in the GRU Ömer Halis Demir Conference Hall. The program was opened with the participation of our Vice Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bünyamin Çetinkaya. Following the opening, the Department Chair, Dr. Melissa Özlem Grab, delivered the opening speech and provided information about the department's past activities. The event covered various topics, including program introduction, students' rights and responsibilities, the operation of the educational process, the use of communication steps to convey requests, ERASMUS, and many more. GRU ELT students shared information about the courses they have taken and the student communities they have established. Afterwards, students presented the department's culture and demonstrated how the department functions. Additionally, sample lessons were shown, and excerpts from classes were presented to the first-year students. To ease the adaptation process, mentor students from upper classes were assigned to the new students. The program concluded with presentations by faculty members Dr. Melissa Özlem Grab, Dr. Hatice Özata, and Dr. Çiğdem Güneş Çilek, along with student presentations. |

The project aimed to highlight the impact of art in raising awareness about nature. In this work, plastic bottles were recycled aesthetically. For this project, our students were inspired by the hazelnut shape, which is a significant symbol of Giresun. The fact that our university is known as the "Hazelnut Specialization University" played a decisive role in using the hazelnut shape in the installation. The plastic bottles were transformed into forms resembling the hazelnut husk and leaves, shaped to represent a hazelnut tree branch. |

In order to provide science teacher candidates with experience in organizing, implementing, and evaluating extracurricular teaching activities, a field trip was organized to various out-of-school learning environments in Trabzon (Trabzon Science Center, Trabzon Wildlife Museum, Trabzon Flood Museum, Trabzon Botanical Park, Trabzon Aquarium). The field trip was conducted as part of the "Out-of-School Learning Environments in Science Education" course, led by Associate Professor Dr. Ümmü Gülsüm Durukan, from the Department of Science Education. |

Panel on "Different Cultures and Inclusivity in English Language Education" The Department of Foreign Language Education of our Faculty organized a panel discussion titled "Different Cultures and Inclusivity in English Language Education" for first-year students in the English Language Teaching (ELT) program. The event was managed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Melissa Özlem Grab, and second-year students Melis Yaltıraklı and Hilal Demir served as the moderators and presenters. Event on "Metaverse, Language Learning, and the Use of AI in Language Teaching" The Department of Foreign Language Education of our Faculty hosted Asst. Prof. Dr. Esen Genç, a faculty member from Ondokuz Mayıs University, as a guest speaker. Dr. Genç provided information to ELT students on the use of the metaverse, language learning, and AI in language teaching, explaining how artificial intelligence can be incorporated to promote language learning and create environments that integrate social and cultural elements, resembling the real world. |

The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şanal, our University's Rector Advisor and a faculty member of the Department of Educational Sciences. The panel featured speakers İsmail Bozalioğlu, Murat Tomak, and Ahmet Gürsoy, who have contributed significantly to the faculty since the days of the Institute of Educational Sciences. |

Our Faculty's Department of Mathematics and Science Education, Mathematics Education Program, faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Firdevs İclal Karataş Aydın received the "METU Thesis of the Year Award." Karataş Aydın's doctoral thesis, titled "An Investigation of Elementary Gifted Students’ Modeling Competencies Through Engineering-Based Model Eliciting Activities," was supervised by Prof. Dr. Mine Işıksal Bostan in the METU Elementary Education Doctoral Program. Her thesis won the "2021-2022 Academic Year METU Thesis of the Year Award." We congratulate her and wish her continued success in her academic career. |

During the event, students of the English Language Teaching Program designed model activities on topics such as "Being a Student at GRÜ," "Culturally Sensitive Teaching," "Inclusive Education," "Curriculum and Lesson Plan Design," and "Technology-Enhanced Language Teaching." |

Under the "Community Service Applications" course led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Müzeyyen Altunbay, educational activities were organized at the Giresun University Obstetrics and Pediatrics Training and Research Hospital to enhance the morale and motivation of children in bed-bound patient positions. From October 23, 2023, to January 5, 2024, the activities were held twice a week, with the participation of 8 students from the Department of Turkish Language Education. Various cultural and artistic activities were conducted with the bed-bound children to uplift their spirits. |
